Baxter rolls at Ventura County Champs

US#1 Simi Valley CA jr Sarah Baxter, in her first race since her historical course-record victory at Mt. SAC, rolled to a 17:15.01 triumph over 3 miles at the Ventura County Championships in Lake Casitas. She finished 52 seconds up on Moorpark soph Monika Gyalay (18:07.29). Her Simi Valley team, ranked US#2/CA#11 by Marc Bloom, took five of the first eight places to win by more than 80 points. Results at PrepCalTrack.com.

Cheserek breaks own mark at Essex County Champs

US#1 St. Benedict’s NJ sr Ed Cheserek, in his first race since he defended his Eastern States title to open his season, powered to a course record 14:18.7 over a very fast 5,000 meter course at Brookdale Park.
